I hadn’t planned on making this sandwich, but when I was browsing through Nigella Lawson‘s newly designed website, I found the recipe for Elvis Presley’s fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. It reminded me that it was always something I wanted to try but hadn’t gotten around to yet.

I’ve had peanut butter and banana together before, and in a regular unfried sandwich as well. But it tasted quite different fried and warm. I can’t say it’ll be a regularly made sandwich in our house, but at least I’ve finally tried it!

Adapted from Nigella Lawson
Makes 1 sandwich
Ingredients
1 ripe banana
2 slices bread, any kind will do
2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter (don’t use extra smooth)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Method
Cut banana into slices. Lightly toast the bread, then spread the peanut butter on one piece and layer the banana on top of the peanut butter. Place the other slice of bread on top. Fry the sandwich in the butter, turning once, until each side is golden-brown. Remove to a plate, the cut the sandwich carefully in half on the diagonal and enjoy.

Looks like a candidate for the Foreman grill!
Yum! This looks delicious.
Looks good! One of my favorites.
oh. my. word.
I’m so freaking hungry now!
I tried this with my sandwich toaster, bit average, maybe I need to pan fry to get the oil soaked into the bread.
Always wanted to try this one.
But if it killed the King, what will it do to me ?
