This is absolutely sinful. I like the hint of vanilla beans extract here. I could I imagine the scent, just mouth watering. Thanks for the recipe, definitely gonna give it a shot.

I think you taste the difference more in cocoa powders the more of it you use in a recipe and the fewer other things that embellish it. For instance, a cup of cocoa or a plain chocolate cake without frosting is when I think you can really taste the depth of chocolate flavor a really good cocoa powder can have.

Adorable. :)

Cute cupcakes too. And... I made blue velvet cupcakes this weekend with a friend. She had Valhrona cocoa and we used that... I didn't notice a different but we didn't use all that much either.

The first photo of your son is hilarious!! I've had those moments before. Too cute!!! Happy 6-month birthday to your son!!

I have tried high-quality chocolate vs. low-quality chocolate, but not different chocolate powders well except for Droste dutch cocoa. I notice a difference in taste with different chocolates. The high quality versions taste more pure; you don't taste anything but (what seems to be) pure chocolate. It has a less chalky taste. However, I still don't like Scharffenberger, but I love Callebaut and Valhrona.

As far as the difference between Droste dutch cocoa and cheap, regular cocoa, I've never tasted a difference. The dutch cocoa just looked darker and made my desserts darker. I'm sure a chocolate connoisseur would quickly disagree with me, though haha.
