Miss Kitty Creations Cupcake Charms

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but when I do, I’ll wear necklaces, like this really pretty mom-necklace my mom gave me for my birthday.   So when Wendie from Miss Kitty Creations contacted me about reviewing her handmade cupcake charms, I was immediately interested because I also love displaying my cupcake-love in necklace form!

Wendie’s cupcake charms are scented with realistic scents that almost remind me of my old Strawberry Shortcake dolls – I just love that smell!  The charms are about 3/4-inch tall and if you have collectible dolls, these cupcakes are a perfect size for them (like mine pictured below).

What I really like about them is not only how yummy they smell, but how realistic they look.  I chose a red velvet cupcake that smells like chocolate covered cherries…

Illustration: Matcha Strawberry Cupcakes

Recently I was emailed by Lisa Orgler of  The Lunch Box Project; she is a wonderful artist that I am very fond of and she is drawing green tea foods for the month of March.  I was delighted that she contacted me and asked if she could draw my matcha strawberry cupcake, which is one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever made (in my opinion). I told her she could most definitely draw my cupcake and I was looking forward to seeing it in her illustration.

Around a week later, Lisa emailed me again to tell me she had finished drawing my cupcake.  I hurried over to The Lunch Box Project and saw her amazing drawing:

Absolutely beautiful!  Thank you, Lisa!

If you’re as interested in Lisa’s work as I am, you can find her at The Lunch Box Project, EtsyFacebook and Twitter.

I’ve been so excited to announce the winner of my one-year blogiversary Bake It Pretty giveaway.  I made chocolate salted dulce de leche cupcakes and have been enjoying them immensely as I read each of your entries and comments on the post.

I am very happy now to announce the winner of the $50 Bake It Pretty gift certificate.  I know that she’s going to be very, very happy and I can’t wait to see what she’ll decide to get with it.  So, congratulations…

Amanda!  You have won!  Be sure to let me know what you decide to get from Bake It Pretty!  :)

Cupcakes & A Giveaway!

The giveaway is now over and any comments left after 7PM on March 7, 2010 as recorded on the comment will not be counted.  The winner will be chosen tomorrow so check back then to see if you have won!

The Sweetest Kitchen hasn’t always been The Sweetest Kitchen.  I started out blogging about cupcakes in late May of 2008 at Blogspot; my blog was then called The Cupcake Review.  As I started to expand and blog about more than cupcakes I knew that I needed to switch to my own domain.  After much thought, I finally decided on the name The Sweetest Kitchen in late February of 2009, and launched the new domain on March 3.  It’s now been one year and my blogging experience has been such fun.  The Sweetest Kitchen has became more popular than I ever expected it to – I’ve almost reached 500,000 page views!

My most famous post, with at least 30,000 page views so far, was the zombie Halloween cupcake I made for Iron Cupcake: Earth and Cupcake Hero in October 2009.  However, my personal favorite of anything I have ever baked since beginning this blog is the pumpkin dulce de leche cupcake.  Everyone who has made these has raved about them, and I’m so happy about that!

Today I’ve made some cupcakes in celebration of The Sweetest Kitchen’s 1-year anniversary.  They are actually very similar to the pumpkin dulce de leche cupcakes, but instead of the pumpkin cake, I used a chocolate cake and sprinkled the frosting with sea salt.

Little Betsy Baker

I am so excited about this that I felt I needed to post about it right away!

I am a huge fan of Bake It Pretty and have placed quite a few orders from there.  However, I moved back to Australia in November, and even though Amanda ships internationally, it is quite a hefty shipping fee.  So I didn’t expect to ever be able to find anything like the stuff at Bake It Pretty in Australia.

Well, I was at Thomas Dux today, which I think is sort of like an Australian version of Wholefoods, and they were selling a very cute Donna Hay cupcake kit (expect a review of her chocolate cupcake kit here soon!).  When I got home I looked for any existing reviews of the kit online.  I found mixed reviews, but it generally seemed that people liked the end result of the cupcake mixes.

But what is it that has me so excited?  When I was searching for Donna Hay’s cupcake kits online, I came across Little Betsy Baker (although they are currently out of Donna Hay’s chocolate cupcake kit, FYI). Wow, this is like an Australian version of Bake It Pretty!  There are tons of beautiful things here!  Here are some of my favorites:

Just to name a few!

I can’t wait to place my first order!  If you’re a member of Little Betsy Baker you get 10% off your orders and exclusive member deals.  You can also find Little Betsy Baker on Twitter and Facebook.

Note that I have not been paid from or asked by Little Betsy Baker to write this post, I just wanted to share my excitement with others!
